Masterpiece Classics

I guess I am a Masterpiece Theater junkie--though I prefer 'enthusiast'. I remember when I was a little girl in Canada watching television, and then Alistair Cooke would come on in his wonderful voice and introduce the movie that would send my friends out of the room and I would want to stay to get completely engulfed. I wish they had DVRs back then. Peer pressure usually sent me off to play Barbies, but oh how I loved those quiet nights at home when there was 'nothing on'. Nothing except Masterpiece Theater.

My children often ask me why my movies don't have color. I usually say, and firmly believe, that the best ones never do. They never believed me. To this day Stephie usually specifies, 'nothing black and white' during the process of movie selection. Well the black-and-white-being-the-best theory is true... except for Masterpiece Classics.

Has anyone else been reeling with delight from the wonderful 2008-2009 season? Click here to see everything that was aired this glorious season. (my DVR is busting with them... I just can't erase them!) But if you missed any, just click to watch the trailer and then buy the DVD.

We are in for another treat this weekend, set your DVRs for another Masterpiece Classic. This week it is Charles Dickins' The Old Curiosity Shop. Click here for trailer.

Oh, and please pass the popcorn.

Oh, hello!? Have I ever! I LOVED Little Dorrit and love Matthew Macfadyen even more (Is it possible!?) Greg and I are going to start it tonight, as I put it on DVD. He hasn't seen it yet.

Didn't you LOVE Wuthering Heights? That had us on the edge of our seats.

You know I am a Masterpiece Theater freak. It's the only tv I watch. I LOVED the last 5 weeks of laundry on Mondays with a new episode of Little Dorrit to watch each week. Too fun!!

I have to admit I'm with Stephie, tee hee! My family never had a color TV when I was growing up, so all I ever got to see was black and white until I got married...and that was enough black and white for me! ;)

P.S. I love "It's a Wonderful Life"!

The classics are wonderful! Although, I'm a reader, not a watcher!
