Olympic Observations

Okay, so I am not usually a cynic; at least I don't think that I am, but sometimes things just make me wonder.
So, I am watching the amazing event of Triathlon yesterday; how grueling! These people run their bodies to the ultimate limit. First they swim 1500 m (in the questionable China water...,) then they bike 40k, followed by a 10k run. Unbelievable.

After the commercial break, they start showing PING PONG.

Now, I understand that this is not an easy game. I can very rarely hit paddle to ball. But Olympic? Not so much.

Having a tennis player in the family definitely spiced up our conversation. Have you seen these guys get ready to serve? Stephie, Maddy and I were practically rolling on the floor with laughter.

The clincher? One of the guys was wearing a knee brace.

Okay, ranting is over. I think I'm going to go play a little 'table tennis.' ☺

I thought EVERYONE wore knee braces to play Ping Pong. ;)

I can just see it now...

"Yes...I'm the Olympic Gold Medalist in Ping Pong. Would you like to feature me on the next Wheaties box?"

HAHAHAHAHAHA! :D

Too funny. Yeah, I was so mad when I heard they are possibly taking baseball out of the Olympics--yet keeping Ping Pong????

Should I admit that I haven't watched ANY of the Olympics?

Uh, I can attest to the fact that some people take their ping-pong very seriously. My husband and his family are just that way.

Yeesh! You don't want to be at the family reunions where ping-pong is involved.

Great post!

(I'm just really irked at the way the gymnastics has been playing out - so wrong!)

Ping Pong is the answer to all your problems. Haven't you seen Forest Gump? ;)

OK, too funny! I, too, was wondering if that was an Olympic-worthy sport.

I needed a chuckle tonight! I thought I would get on and blog before the big exit. Thanks for a fun night- sorry I had to unexpectedly cut it short! I'm glad I got a picture of the cute cookie cake, I loved it ♥ My pieces for my fam were gone by the time I got home. It's just been..one of those days~

You know I bet you do have to be fit to play ping pong. Just look at their facial muscles getting a work out, pulling all their funny faces.

Lovin' the Olympics.

I was totally thinking the same things about ping pong this morning. Of course, if Monica Geller-Bing was on the US team, we'd totally have a gold medal in this event!

I love the Olympics and I love your posts. It was fun to see the mascots. SLC's were definitely the cutest but China's are pretty cute too! Athen's remind me of those Thumb guys on Spy Kids...
