Stitches for the Little Man

Tempests and Tragedies!

Friday evening Nicky was playing with his big sisters, and despite precautionary pillows placed around the room, Nicky was able to smash his nose right into the window sill! Please see exhibit 1 for frontal view.

Exhibit 1.

The stitching was a basic nightmare. He got three of them. The poor little guy was hurting so bad, but he was very brave and super sweet. He would scream and scream during the most hurtful times, and when the wound technician would dab something on that felt good (I guess a topical numbing agent??) Nicky would say, "That makes me happy" to him. Melted our hearts!

Exhibit 2 is found below. It is the closeup of the tear in his nostril.

Exhibit 2.

Our little Nicky also had to have x-rays which resulted in another traumatic scream-fest. Thankfully though, he has no obvious breaks.

I thought that it was uncanny that I was journalling Lilly's illness and about 8 hours later I found myself back in the same ER. It was upsetting, but I knew that it was just a procedure and that he would be fine. For this, I am supremely thankful.

The sunny side is that Nicky didn't hit his eyes or teeth. It could have been much worse.

Poor guy! It amazes me at how fast they can go from playing to pain. We've had a couple ER visits with our two, but no stitches...yet!
