Girls' Camp

Girls' Camp was AMAZING! I had a blast with all of those crazy girls, and though I only got 14 hours of sleep in 3 nights, it was great fun.

All of the devotionals, talks and presentations were so spiritually uplifting. The girls really went away from it with a good boost. So did I.

My report is that I got a few mosquito bites. That's it. That's all. Yes, you read that correctly! I really can't believe it. I didn't see anything disgusting... well except for maybe the shower curtain- icky! I did hear about a scorpion crawling down a girl's arm in another cabin! And some people got nibbled by fish in the lake. On the creepy-crawly scale, it was a nice low 1 or 2. ☺

The last night was a total party. I was tricked into a game of 'Houdini.'
Yes, I knew that I had to escape and that rope was involved, but I didn't realize that I would be tied to a chair with a blindfold on and get a really rad makeover, kitty cat-style. Thanks, Chelsea. ☺ Stephie whispered in my ear to see if I was okay, and to offer her assistance in my escape, and Maddy just walked by and giggled, "Looking good, Mom."

Fun was had by all. ♥

A Most Pleasant Surprise

I am off to Girls' Camp tomorrow! I am very excited to be going and for the time that I will have to bond with the Young Women-- most especially that two of them are my own! {I am not sure that they are as excited as I am... but there it is.}

Kristy, stopped by with a Girls' Camp Emergency Kit for me! Can you believe it? She is so amazing. Here is the loot.

A couple of Magazines for "down time," a Diet Coke, a super-cute Hair Tie "to hide my grimy hair," Tylenol, a Tide to-go pen, Gum, Mosquito Wipes, Lip Balm, a gel-filled Eye Mask, {woohoo!}, some outrageous Chocolate Mint Cookies {were they supposed to last? Am I supposed to share with my family? she sent 6... hmmmmm...} and the most amazing 'Emergency Chocolate' bar!
--the package says--
For immediate relief of: Chocolate Cravings, Lovesickness, Exam Pressure, Mild Anxiety and Extreme Hunger.
Directions for use: Tear open wraper, break off desired dosage, and consume. Alternatively massage into the affected area. Repeat dosage as required until finished. If symptoms persist consult your local confectioner.

Thanks so much, Kristy!!

Off to Texas Camping in July!!! I think when I get back I will get my head examined!

Anyone want to play a 'guess what will bite me or gross thing that I will come across' game???

MyHeritage

For all of you genealogists out there this might not be amazing... but to the novice like me, the site MyHeritage is amazing! (I can't seem to make a hyperlink without it going to my personal family tree page... but it is www.myheritage.com)

You can upload photos pop them into your family tree and le voila! it is all pretty with family pics instead of written names. You can also add notes to each person. And it has a smart link option that will link your trees with other trees in the database when it recognizes matches.
I haven't done it yet, but I think that it will be neat.

What I have done is the Celebrity Collage (look down a few posts) which was really fun, and the Look-alike meters for my kids. :) They know how to attract everyone who is allergic to family history work. :)

Thanks to Ally at Laughadaisy for this amazingly fun blog activity!

All you have to do is upload a photo of yourself, and it will analyze your features and display your celebrity look-alikes.

Here is my celebrity collage. Give it a try. You know you want to!

Quote-of-the-Day

"We often compare our Weaknesses to others' Strengths."
--unknown to me

I heard this recently, wrote it down, and have since heard it many times. I guess I really needed to hear it and now I really need to let it sink in.

Why is it that we can dwell so much on our own weaknesses and on others' stengths?
