Masterpiece Classics

I guess I am a Masterpiece Theater junkie--though I prefer 'enthusiast'. I remember when I was a little girl in Canada watching television, and then Alistair Cooke would come on in his wonderful voice and introduce the movie that would send my friends out of the room and I would want to stay to get completely engulfed. I wish they had DVRs back then. Peer pressure usually sent me off to play Barbies, but oh how I loved those quiet nights at home when there was 'nothing on'. Nothing except Masterpiece Theater.

My children often ask me why my movies don't have color. I usually say, and firmly believe, that the best ones never do. They never believed me. To this day Stephie usually specifies, 'nothing black and white' during the process of movie selection. Well the black-and-white-being-the-best theory is true... except for Masterpiece Classics.

Has anyone else been reeling with delight from the wonderful 2008-2009 season? Click here to see everything that was aired this glorious season. (my DVR is busting with them... I just can't erase them!) But if you missed any, just click to watch the trailer and then buy the DVD.

We are in for another treat this weekend, set your DVRs for another Masterpiece Classic. This week it is Charles Dickins' The Old Curiosity Shop. Click here for trailer.

Oh, and please pass the popcorn.
