Want to be Tippi
The first Hitchcock movie that I saw--truly saw was The Birds.
I was transfixed as a young teen by the the camera angles, the use of silence, how birds can be made to be so frightening, and by Miss Melanie Daniels--a bored, beautiful, young socialite who travels on a whim to a small California town.
After this movie, and subsequently seeing Marnie, I wanted to be Tippi Hedren.
Seriously, could she be any more glamorous?
So I am a Hitchcock lover through and through. But even I think that this is a bit strange...

U-Topia *
The concert was beyond fabulous. I could talk about how Bono's voice was incredible, how the band played fantastically, how the set was beyond description, how the visual displays were enthralling, but I won't.
I could pretend that I didn't scream like a schoolgirl and dance like my kids weren't watching (thankfully they weren't), or that I wasn't able to take a pre-concert picture without giggling excitedly, but I won't.
Instead I will just relive my life and love of U2.
U2 is the music that my brother Greg says 'came out from the under the door of my room' when he was young and I was a teenager. I used to listen to the song
Bad on repeat as I got ready to go out. Seriously there is no better song.
In 1987 Joshua Tree came out. It ruled. It rocked. I was amazed. Favorite ballad for the next several years?
With Or Without You.
So here we are getting ready to leave. See? Too excited to take a good picture! ;-)
Oh, and this night out gave me the perfect opportunity to watch my favorite-of-all-time makeup tutorial (I am not the only one addicted to makeup tutorials, right?) The Smoky Eye.
and try it out for myself.

Happy Birthday AJ!!
My baby brother is turning 24 years old today!
Now he is a Returned Missionary, Army Reservist, and College Student.
But I remember the days when he just used to give me kisses!

The Embossed Cupcake
So I have a thing for cupcakes. I do. I love all things cupcake. Pictures of them, themes for them, and tutorials of them.
Why don't I make more of them? Simple. I would EAT them. I would eat the ugly ones, the broken ones, the new recipes, the failed new techniques... I am sure that you get the idea.
And since I also like to decorate cakes, I surf cake and cupcake blogs. Yes. And there are lots of them.
While riding the wave today at CakeJournal I came across a delightful tutorial for making embossed cupcakes. Squee! These are so adorable and the possibilities are endless.
Sigh.
