I have never, and I mean NEVER had so many compliments. (this hurts my cooking-pride a bit, but there it is) I believe that I heard statements like "best dinner ever", "the best day ever", and my favorite, "we should have these every week... Taco Tuesday!" Needless to say we haven't missed a Tuesday... it is so looked forward to around here.
Well, this week Taco Tuesday fell on May 5th. Cinco de Mayo! Are you kidding me?? And also, May 5th happens to be Pablo's birthday.
A quick look to the internet found us a fun fiesta treat. Sombrero Cookies! We altered them and used Keebler Fudge Stripe cookies and Rolos, but they were done just like these from FamilyFun.com.
Maddy's friend Nelson came over to experience our fiesta and he helped Maddy make the cookies.
And a mess.
And in case you were wondering... yes, we did sing to Pablo.
Side Note:
Did any of you ever watch Bewitched? or am I totally dating myself?? Please tell me that you at least watched it in reruns and aren't just thinking of the recent movie with Nicole Kidman... Anyway, do you remember when they switched Darrin? they didn't even tell the audience, or anyone, they just threw a new actor in there?
Well, to those of you paying attention, you might have noticed that Pablo looks just a little bit different than in the picture below when he was first won at the Burger Day Festival. I promised a post on the Perils of Pablo. I never did it. I am sorry.
Pablo didn't enjoy the four-hour car ride back from Oklahoma. He didn't make it. Pablo 2, the sequel, was purchased in Original Pablo's memory. On Cinco de Mayo.

Cute post. Great celebration. Cookies look delicious and a tad messy ; )
Oh, I loved Bewitched--the TV series. Poor Pablo the first. Happy Birthday to Pablo the second.
Ok, those cookies ROCK!
And I was a bit confused between Pablo and Nelson for a minute. I had to go back and re-read to make sure you hadn't purchased a boyfriend for Maddy nor replaced him without his knowledge!
Happy Birthday Pablo! Ha ha. And yes, Bruce Wayne is mighty handsome! And I will admit that I have a crush on Cary Grant as well. I love his movies. Hope ya'll are doing well!
I love your taco/pablo story. We always had tacos growing up--with ketchup instead of taco sauce (this was Boston, not a big mexican population). We make them all the time now, perfect because the kids can put just what they want on them. And I love your cute treats (not to mention the cute kids)
You are one of those fun moms. How great to even stop to celebrate this. It passed me by without me even noticing. I should at least eaten a taco or something.
I love the decorated cookies, how festive!
What fun! I love celebrations! Adorable photos too!
This is just HILARIOUS! I love it! Did Pablo enjoy the song? Tee hee! ;)
OF COURSE I watched Bewitched! I loved that show, and watched it all the time! :)
